Joey, where are the beans?

Monday, November 22nd, 2004

_Where:_ Tonight we were at my Nana’s house, where we all ate a feast of food. We had honey baked ham, turkey, potato salad, pies, chips, veggies, and of course, baked beans.

_What:_ When we were packing up to head home, my Nana insisted we take the HUGE zip-lock tub of beans with us. She didn’t have room in her fridge for such a huge collection of beans.

_Who:_ I was in charge of driving myself, Austin, Joey, and Becky home in my car.

_Main Idea:_ Joey was in charge of carrying the beans, for the bean tub was huge, and I DID NOT want that tub of baked beans to spill anywhere in my car. He was the one who had to carry the beans on his lap during the ride home.

_The Story:_

We are driving down West Road in Trenton, Austin and I are talking about the song on the radio while Joey and Becky are in the back-seat drawing funny faces on my steamy windows. I suddenly think of the baked beans in the back seat, and wanted to make sure Joey had them secure on his lap, and that they had not spilled out.

bq. *Stephanie:* “Joey, are the beans on your lap?”
*Joey:* “Ummmm”
*Stephanie:* “JOEY! PUT THE BEANS ON YOUR LAP!”
*Joey:* “I kind of don’t have the beans.”
*Austin:* “What do you mean: ‘You KIND OF don’t have the beans? Where are the beans Joey?”
*Joey:* “On top of Stephanie’s car?”

Silence.

bq. *Stephanie:* “You left a tub of baked beans on the roof of my car Joey?”
*Joey:* “I think so!”

I then pull the car over and Austin hops out.

bq. *Austin:* “That’s a negative on the beans being on the roof.”

He gets back into the car.

bq. *Stephanie:* “Joey, where are the beans?”
*Joey:* “I don’t know.”

We sit in silence for a moment, and then I pull the car out and put on my left hand turn signal.

bq. *Austin:* “You’re going to LOOK for the beans arn’t you?”
*Stephanie:* “Indeed I am. I am curious as to what happened to them.”
*Austin:* “Good. Me too.”

Becky and Joey burst out laughing as we turn back onto West Road heading back towards my Nana’s house. We drive slowly deciding where the most likely place would have been for the beans to fall off the roof my car. Austin was sure it was during a turn somewhere.

bq. *Austin:* “Bean’s just can’t take turns you know.”

We drive until we come up to the intersection of West Road and Edsel, and there in the street is something that looked rather… messy.

bq. *Becky:* “Look at all the beans!”
*Joey:* “Wow.”

Needless to say, the beans were unrecognizable. The zip-lock container they were being held in was crushed to the road. The beans were spread out all across the intersection. We rolled down the window as we passed by and inhaled the smell of squashed baked beans. We all had ourselves a good laugh, and then we turned around and drove home.

_What happens next:_

Stephanie dials her Nana’s house with her cell phone in the car on the way home.

bq. *Nana:* “Hello!”
*Stephanie:* “Hi, Nana it’s Stephanie, I need you to give my parents a message for me.”
*Nana:* “Okay.”
*Stephanie:* “We kind of forgot to get the beans. Joey left them on the corner of West and Edsel. Could you just have them, pick them up? And also, that container they were in, were you wanting that back?”

The End.

True Story.

Hope you enjoyed it!

Yesterday I received an email from my Nana, who had in-turn, the day before, received that very email from her cousin Anne. Thank You Anne! I was highly entertained by what I saw and have decided to share them with you. After some hunting I found out that these interesting works of art are drawn by a man named Juilan Beever. Be sure to check out “his website”:http://users.skynet.be/J.Beever/pave.htm for more interesting shots of what he calls his: _Pavement Drawings._

Here are a few more:

The next image actually shows a good picture of the man behind the work. This is also my favorite.

Who’s Been Doing the Dew on My Desk?

I learned today that as of Jan. 1st of next year, Subway will no longer be issuing or accepting the Subway Stamps. This is terrible news. I was a huge fan of the Sub Stamps, and to learn this news made me very sad. I am little bitter towards Subway at this moment. If you have been collecting the stamps, make sure you use them by Dec. 31st of this year.

I came into work today to find a can of Mountain Dew on my desk. This is strange because neither me nor Austin drink Mountain Dew, in fact, we both despise it. I thought for a moment, and then asked aloud the question: Who has been sitting at my desk? Kathy told me that a man name “Dan” was in fact sitting at our desk on Tuesday. I then asked if this “Dan” liked mountain dew. Both Courtney and Kathy confirmed that “Dan” did in fact love mountain dew. Kathy then jokingly exclaimed: Who’s been Doing the Dew on my desk?? Which as of now became the title of this post. The old title had been: Subway Sucks! I thought the new title sounded more interesting, but feel free to judge it for yourself.

I heard the song: What if God Was One of Us? on the radio today. I concluded that I haven’t heard that song for about 3 years now. Wow.

I like it how if I don’t talk to Savanna at least once every other day she quickly assumes that I am most likely: dead, missing, or kidnapped. I have decided to take this as a good thing. If you are reading this, take a moment to think if YOU have anyone checking to see if YOU are alive every other day? I consider myself quite lucky.

I will be spending the weekend in New York with Noel and his family. Savanna, take note.

So I shaved my legs this morning. This is a very common ritual for me, except today my legs feel like I shaved them with a kitchen knife instead of my razor and shave gel. They are burning right now, and I don’t understand what I did wrong!

On Tuesday Austin, Becky and I went to a pet store to get some gerbil food. I ended up getting (with the help of Austin’s wallet) a new cage for Cory. He seemed very unhappy in his wire cage. He is also too fat for his wheel, so I bought him another wheel as well. I chose to go with a 10-gallon tank for his new home. When we got it home I noticed that it had a huge crack down one of the sides. I was very upset. I now need to return the tank in exchange for a new, crackless one.

Did you know that my little sister named her hamster Tapanga? How cute is that? Cory and Tapanga. Although, she usually calls her Pang, for short. Which is something that I myself would do, as many of you know, I am a big fan of the nicknames.

Noel and I were watching Alias season 3 this past week when we came to the conclusion that we somehow skipped watching disk 4!!! We are hoping that by watching the remaining disk all of the questions we have aquired will be answered. It was a sad moment.

div(centerImage). !http://stephaniehaywood.com/uploads/registration.gif!

Registration for winter semester is here. My time to register is tomorrow, and if I don’t get ALL the classes I am registering for, I will go insane. I will also be gone tomorrow, and am therefore leaving my registration in the hands of Austin. I hope he does well, for my sake. I hate how stressful registering can be!!!

I think that is it for today. I am now going to add pictures inbetween all of the little paragraphs to make my site pretty. It does need color, but for now, pictures will have to do.

Have a good weekend everyone!
