I would like to personally thank all of you who posted on a comment on the previous entry. HOWEVER, the number of people that left comments did not total anywhere near 500. So I am still encouraging people to leave a comment on that post.

Today in class we learned the real reason behind the awful smell that comes out of Lake Biwa on an almost daily basis. We had all just assumed that the smell was caused by the lot* of dead fish that would find their way to the shore to rot - BUT NO! That was NOT the reason…

*lot: a “lot” of fish is around 25 big ugly fish, plus about 100 little fish.

The real reason for the smell is because of……. CARP HERPES. That is correct, I just told you that the CARP swimming around in Lake Biwa have HERPES. And take it from me, judging by the smell some days, there must be an abundance of CARP in Lake Biwa. Let me also add that the people who have been swimming in Lake Biwa over the past month and a half were not pleased to hear the news. I, for one, have never (and now will NEVER) gone for a swim in Lake Biwa.
